I am delighted to share news of Delisted 2023, and honored and excited to have been invited to be part of this project, which is launching this week!
Delisted 2023 is an emergent collaborative project dedicated to communal creative and essential grief work in relation to more-than-human bodies that were once, but are possibly no longer, in the world. It is
an entry point to access what moves beneath, between, within and around us.
Delisted 2023 emerges from two questions: How can we hold extinction in this moment while honoring the existence of these more than human beings? And how can we hold grief and hold life through connection to these beings, each other, and this world ?”
Jennifer Calkins is curating the structure and participants: a group of artists, scientists, and other humans have been invited to collaborate and engage with 34 species that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed to delist because the agency concluded, on the basis of the best available science, that these species are extinct. Calkins has charged us human participants with a primary commitment: to be with our partner species through our art– initiating and tending relationship with, as well as co-creation with the species. And to be a bearer of the memory of the bodies that made up this species.

And a reminder that Facebook is neither my favorite nor primary social platform—my own Instagram accounts are: @sjudefalkner which was created to be dedicated for art and writing--I've previously been remiss in updating it, but vow to be better about that henceforth--and @peregrine.falkner which also includes my personal promenades, shenanigans and flânerie.
